The reason I spend much time behind the camera is to create compelling images. Every assignment, every frame, every click of the shutter gives me something new to learn and a potential new image to share. The photographs I offer are the cumulative result of years of practice, technique refinement, compositional awareness, and the desire to say something visually. The vast majority of these images are made from film negatives [35mm, 120 medium format, or 4"x5" large format] I've made with an array of older cameras: Leica, Kowa, Yashica, Sinar, and more. At the risk of sounding nostalgic and precious, I feel prints made from film have an organic, unique, and imprecise feel that even the best digital cameras can't fully replicate.
Many architects and designers have used my work in project installations to expand a theme or motif, or to tell a story within a room. Homeowners, restaurateurs, hoteliers, and retailers can also benefit from "locally grown" art to energize and define any space.
I print every photo with ChromaLife (100-year +) inks on one of two types of museum-quality, barium sulfate 100% cotton rag papers; depending on black-and-white or color photographs. These yield true darkroom-era classic looks with modern printing equipment. Photographs were meant to be viewed on paper in a well-lit environment — see how classically inspired fine art images can transform your designs and delight your clients.
