some miscellaneous things aural.
music iii.
scott lake, a songwriter in los angeles, wrote this ballad. he asked for a collaborator, so i wrote and recorded a bass part (on my ricky) as well as an atmospheric guitar “filterwash” part (telecaster).
when the san diego chargers (go bolts!) won the afc west title in 2004, i decided to update their ’70s-style theme song in case they went to the superbowl. well, that didn’t happen, but i’ve had good response to my remake. i played all the guitars, bass, hacked the drum loops, and arranged. the lovely and talented kirk howe sang, tom lea rapped, and chris lea played all the saxes.
my friend paul jarrett put this dance track together with a john bonham drum loop as the foundation. I added a bunch of bass parts. a fun project.
when a particularly ugly chapter of my life was coming to a close, i wrote “relief”. it’s all basses and loops recorded in garageband.
